I’m pretty OCD about it to be honest and rotate the TLX’s or any car of mine every other oil change. The only reason I ask is because the Insight creates an interesting dilemma as that thing went 10,000 miles before the oil change % dropped to where Honda recommends getting an oil change.
Do you rotate your tires based on mileage or just oil changes/other factors?

Every time I move the car, the tires rotate.

When I had a WRX/STI I would rotate them religiously anytime after 7500 miles, as I’d also religiously change oil at 3750. Extreme environment state, don’t like uneven radii
in my rotating mass sets.
Most of my cars are now run with staggereds which basically mean left-right rotations around once every 20k miles, unless they’re directional, and then I just buy tires instead.
Unless you have AWD I don’t know if there’s merit in obsessively doing it, unless you have the time and energy to rotate them yourself and you don’t mind it.

Depends how fast I’m driving, but even at a crawl they still rotate the same number of times by the point that I’m out of the driveway.

Every oil change. So every 6000-7000 miles on my Mazda and every 4000 on the subaru. The subaru needs more rotating since it tends to wear a bit more unevenly. I have yet to rotate the tires on my Datsun, I think I’m getting new tires anyway so it doesn’t matter.

We switch off winters/
summers, I mark fronts and backs and put them on the opposite the next time.. I’m happy as long as they are all getting even wear..

I just rotated my tires today on the Subaru. I generally try to do every other oil change which works out to every 8-10k miles depending on when I get around to doing the change. This gets thrown off if I stretch out my oil change interval for a longer trip. I did a 4000 mile trip over three weeks earlier this year so that threw me off since it ended up being a ~6000 mile oil change and I had rotated the tires before leaving. On this car I get camber wear on the front tires so rotation is pretty key to maximize tire life. I am thinking about getting more camber on the fronts with my next alignment whenever I wear out these tires.

On the Corvette...I don’t. U nidirectional tires with staggered size/offsets front and back.
On the Cube, well...way less often than I should. I usually wind up replacing two tires at a time.

Every spring and fall, when the winters go on and come off. I should do it more frequently though.

I work at a Costco tire. 5-6k is usually the recommendation. Though you can get away with waiting longer (depending on tire and driving style) . I’ve seen countless tires develop irregular wear that could have been prevented with a more frequent interval. M ost are probably due to lack of alignment.

Every other oil change. The taco is a 5K interval. Probably should be more considering how much I tow but screw it. So, every 10K.

With the dailies, about twice during the life of the tire, just to try and even up the wear so I replace 4 at a time not 2, and to ensure that when they’re getti ng low on tread , the tire with the most tread is on the front . I only rotate F/R not side to side, whether directional or not .
With t he 86, every time I have the car off the ground for another reason they get F/R rotated. So probably every 2-3k miles, depending on how often I get pissed off with the track pads squealing and decide to swap back to road pads till the next track day.

I rotate them on the cars I maintain every oil change (5k ish interval). I've got the car up in the air for inspection and draining oil anyway, it takes basically no extra time or effort to rotate the tires while it is off the ground and it allows a better inspection

Summers get rotated after every autocross to avoid just killing the fronts. Winters will go on at the start of winter and then go back on rotated at the start of the next year.

I rotate tires on my work van every time there’s an oil change, so every 5k. Which is every 3-4 weeks.
I do the same on my personal vehicles, though I drive my truck far less. I’ve only put about 4k on it in the 6 months I’ve had it.

Every autox, I remove my tires, put them in a pile to remember which order they came off, forget which order I put them in, then reinstall at random. So once a month. Tire wear looking even so far

Not as often as I should, but it’s easier with the Exocet since I’m always taking them on/off and the tires are directional so they just got back to front.

Not as often as I should but on the BMW probably every 20k, front to back . Manufacturer recommends against rotating but that’s dumb.
In the Jeep, probably ends up being every 15k. Current tires are at their EOL at ~60k so definitely happy with the way they wore, overall.

I wish! They're done on 4 jack stands and a jack "lifting" the car. Probably a poor word choice on my part. I don't have ready access to a lift these days, but it would be nice ...

Every other oil change on the Xterra. The Fiero doesn’t get rotated, staggered wheels and tires. Fiero goes through tires twice as fast, also has a more aggressive alignment setup that doesn’t help.

I still do most things by hand. Lug nuts and suspension work I’ll use an impact on, but otherwise I use air tools very sparingly aside from things like the center bolt on a crack pulley or engine mounts. I’ve never been an air ratchet guy. I never work fast on my own stuff. I very much take my time and inspect everything and enjoy the act of doing it. Working fast was my least favorite part of turning wrenches for a living.
